The California Geographic Alliance (CGA) at Humboldt State University is a teacher professional development organization dedicated to improving geographic education and literacy in California.  The CGA partners with the California Subject Matter Projects, GLOBE, and various National Geographic initiatives (e.g., Sustainable Seas, Conservation). The heart of the alliance is Teacher Consultants-professional teachers with specialized training in geographic education who promote geography among their colleagues, their students, and the public.

CGA selected FotoBridge to convert and digitally preserve a large collection of transparencies.  The digital images are now used for university teaching, lectures (professional meetings, in national parks), in publications (hard copy books and journals; scholarly and general audiences), on web sites (for downloads) and conferences.
