John O’Hurley played J. Peterman, Elaine’s boss, on the hit NBC comedy show Seinfeld and made millions familiar with the eccentric character through the show. However, the real J. Peterman and the company he founded that sells hard-to-find clothing and accessories is not based in New York, rather Kentucky. That company chose FotoBridge to convert a large, one-of-a-kind photographic prints
collection to digital format. The photographic prints document the early years of the real J. Peterman and his exotic world travel, as he built his company by finding “uncommonly good stuff” to sell through his catalog. The company is now using these brand-building images on its ecommerce site as well as a companion site known as “Peterman’s Eye – a community of curious travels”. A sample of the images digitized by FotoBridge can be found here.

Mr. O’Hurley is an investor in the new J. Peterman Company – so the separation blurs even further.
